Playing the SNO!zone Summer Sessions “Summer Daze” Festival at Braehead

The first of two days of fun and entertainment at SNO!zone Scotland, Sunday 24th plays a host to cover bands including Stereotonics and Oasish…probably better off going today then!!

as well as a local Battle of the Bands there’s also free workshops in breakdance and DJ skills.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals

So the rumors are confirmed Ryan Adams is back to play the not even opened yet Picture House in Edinburgh. This brand new venue is run by the same people behind the Barfly and has a 1500 capacity…sounds interesting!!
The Picture House represents the smallest gig Ryan and the Cardinals will have played in Scotland in a number of years and is a rare chance to catch an intimate performances after their way larger gig at the Clyde Auditorium last year.

Stand by your computer Friday the 29th of August at 9am. Tickets are £24.50 plus booking fee.

Just Announced

Earlier tonight the Fratellis played an acoustic set at Argyle Street’s HMV, it was pretty quiet but was getting busier as I left for tesco to buy avocado’s for dinner. On the 20th of December they will round off their UK tour at the soon to be demolished Glasgow Print Factory. Presale tickets are at their site!

Maybe Mark Ronson will sprinkle some of his magic on Kaiser Chiefs new album ‘Off With Their Heads’ to be released October 13th. Following a slightly larger show at the SECC last December Leeds biggest band (excluding Chris Moyles waist) are back in Glasgow for an ‘intimate’ Barrowland date on Friday 17th of October. On sale now!

Seattle band Death Cab for Cutie have announced a show on 14th November at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange tickets here.

Having recently released her Bjorn (of Peter Björn and John!) produced album Youth Novels, Swedish singer Lykke Li has announced a gig at Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire on Thursday the 9th of October. This short European tour comes hot off the heels of sold out shows in NYC and LA and directly before she’s off to play the CMJ Music Marathon.

After a much talked about set at T in The Park earlier in the summer Glasgow band The Velcro Quartet play the Captains Rest on the 3rd of September, Joe and the boys then help to launch a new night at the Caves in Edinburgh on the 4th with Miller Genuine Draft giving out free beer! If you cant get enough of the likes of band of horses, animal collective or my morning jacket then you’ll be happy to know Fleet Foxes have announced a date at the abc on Saturday the 8th of November. Having sadly by-passed the UK festival circuit this Summer, the abc show will be only the second time they’ve played Scotland and represents a shift in gear for the Seattle band who’s two London Shepherd’s Bush Empire shows are already sold out, Glasgow to follow soon then! After buzzing round the secret show circuit in the clubs studios bedrooms and bars of Glasgow Frightened Rabbit found themselves at SXSW back in March shortly followed by an extensive North American tour with Brooklyn’s Oxford Collapse. With momentum building in the Uk, rave gig reviews coming out of the US and an 8.1 on pitchfork this is the perfect time to announce some small Scottish dates below…..there are also whispers of a possible art school show for those lucky freshers, theres even a gap in their schedule!!

Those hard drinking hard touring auzzies Midnight Juggernaughts are back in Glasgow on Thursday the 21st with a last minute gig announced at the Art School show time is 1am. Art School students are free before midnight and £1 after.

OASIS UK TOUR

Oasis will return from North America to play a major UK Arena tour in support of the release of their eagerly awaited new album “Dig Out Your Soul”. The tour gets under way in Liverpool on October 7, the day after “Dig Out Your Soul” hits the streets. It will continue for a full month with the band playing 18 shows across the UK, and is the second leg of their 14 month world tour.

We will bring you Scottish music news, show announcements, secret gigs, new bands, gig reviews and anything else we can think of!

Sadly there’s no Indian Summer this year but with Connect Festival fast approaching there’s still a chance to catch Conor Oberst, Franz Ferdinand and the full line-up in a more civilised surrounding to DF Concerts other major summer festival!

Upcoming in the next few months are reviews from the likes of Mogwai, Kings of Leon, Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit, Glasvegas, Vivian Girls, Santogold, Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, Oxford Collapse, Blitzen Trapper, MGMT….
